National Feedlot Corporation launches Gemas Gold Meats Malaysia's premium brand of quality meats

22 March 2010 - GEMAS, NEGERI SEMBILAN. Malaysia’s agriculture and meat produce industries have received a much-needed boost with the launch of Gemas Gold Meats, Malaysia’s premium brand of quality meats, earlier today. Officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, the Honourable Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, Gemas Gold Meats is set to be Malaysia’s leading premium meats brand.
 
A range of chilled beef products wholly produced by National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), Gemas Gold Meats has been penetrating into the market since 2008 under the house brand of NFC. This was done while building operations integrity, gain consumer confidence and establish a larger customer base.
 
“Gemas Gold Meats is unlike any other local meat brand currently in the market as our products are of international standards, having sourced the world’s finest livestock to offer Malaysian consumers a variety of quality choices. Furthermore, the production process has been engineered to deliver high-quality, hygienic and fresh products with the utmost care that will tantalize taste buds,” said Encik Wan Shahinur Izran, Chief Executive Officer of NFC.
 
“By adopting a formula that will offer consumers a variety of quality produce, reared in Malaysia and carefully handled to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness, Gemas Gold Meats will subsequently influence and strengthen the minds of consumers in support of local brands,” he continued.
 
Named after Gemas, an agriculture town nestled in Negeri Sembilan, the labeling of Gemas Gold Meats is to pay homage to the place that has nurtured and produced such quality meats and meat products for consumers nationwide.

Furthermore, for their efforts and contribution towards achieving the 40% self-sufficiency target for the country’s beef production set out by the Ninth Malaysia Plan. Produced from high-breed cattle, which are fed with natural materials formulated to yield optimum quality products that will correlate with the Gemas Gold Meats stamp of excellence. Such efforts are in-line with meeting consumer demands for beef products, subsequently reducing the consumption of imported meat and products, thus Malaysia’s reliance on overseas suppliers and produce. National Feedlot Centre, a high impact Project under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, is an envisioned centre of production for beef and its products in Malaysia, which will be instrumental in attaining the Government’s target of 40% self-sufficiency for beef production.
 
NFC has entered the domestic consumer market with Gemas Gold Meats stocked at the country’s leading and most popular supermarket brands including Carrefour, Cold Storage, Giant and JUSCO. NFC has also penetrated into other levels of the food supply chain by providing meats to wet markets, restaurants, manufacturers, distributors, institutions through its NFC house brand. The company will also be supplying premium meats to the country’s top hotels in the near future.
 
The launch of Gemas Gold Meats is seen as one of the most significant milestones for NFC since starting operations on site in 2008.
